Ajinomoto® UCC is the new home where food and culinary enthusiasts meet with a common dedication to unite taste and health in food preparations. It aims to train HRM and Nutrition students to cook with culinary confidence and nutrition alertness and showcase the talents of aspiring Filipino chefs in creating culinary masterpieces that are both healthy and delicious.
Judging criteria is aligned to Ajinomoto’s CHOOSE, COOK and SERVE advocacy. Each entry will be evaluated based on intensity of umami taste, choice of quality ingredients (CHOOSE), use of proper culinary methods and techniques (COOK) and practice of portion control in plating (SERVE).
Food and culinary enthusiasts are welcome to join this event for free. Apart from the cooking competition, Ajinomoto will bring leading technical experts in food and nutrition to educate people about umami and its role in health and nutrition. Umami, the scientifically recognized and proven 5th basic taste alongside sweet, sour, bitter, and salty, was first identified and isolated by Dr. Kikunae Ikeda of Tokyo Imperial University in 1908.
